NFPA 1583 Standard on Health-Related Fitness Programs for Fire Department Members, 2015 edition
1.1* Scope. This standard shall provide requirements for the protection of the audience, support personnel, performers, the operator, assistants, and property where flame effects are used. A.1.1 This document details how to control the use of flame effects. The issue of permitting or prohibiting the use of open flames before an audience is in the scope of a code such as NFPA 101, Life Safety Code. The Life Safety Code has traditionally prohibited open flames within assembly occupancies.
