Temporary edge protection systems - Product specification - Test methods
This document specifies requirements and test methods for temporary edge protection systems used during the erection or maintenance of buildings or other building structures. This document is applicable to edge protection systems on flat and inclined surfaces and specifies the requirements for temporary edge protection systems, which are divided into three classes. For edge protection systems with an arresting function (e.g., in the event of a fall or slide from a sloped roof surface), this document specifies requirements for the energy absorption capacity. This document covers both edge protection systems that are attached to the structure and others whose position on flat surfaces is secured by gravity and friction. This document does not contain requirements for edge protection systems intended to protect: - against impacts from vehicles or other moving equipment; - against the sliding of loose material, snow, etc.; - passers-by in publicly accessible areas. This document is not applicable to edge protection components on scaffolding according to EN 12811-1 and EN 1004-1.
