Safety of amusement rides and amusement devices - Part 1: Design and manufacture

This document specifies the minimum requirements for ensuring safety in the design, calculation, manufacture, and installation of mobile, temporary, or permanently installed amusement equipment intended for recreational use by people, such as carousels, swings, boats, Ferris wheels, roller coasters, slides, booths, show rides, and structures for artistic performances. Hereinafter referred to as amusement equipment or temporary structures, these are intended for repeated installation without loss of structure, as well as for temporary or permanent installation at event sites, amusement parks, or other recreational locations. Fixed stands, construction and other scaffolding, as well as removable agricultural structures and simple coin-operated amusement equipment for children supporting up to three children, as well as sports and leisure facilities such as water slides or summer toboggan runs, playground equipment, ropes courses, climbing walls, bouncy castles, trampolines, and swimming pool equipment (this list is not exhaustive) are not covered by this document. For all facilities not covered by the requirements of EN 13814-1, the relevant standards apply. This document can also be used for the design of similar structures or passenger-carrying amusement equipment, even if they are not explicitly mentioned here. National regulations apply to occupational health and safety concerns. This document is applicable to the manufacture and major modifications of amusement equipment and rides whose design dates after the date of publication of this document
