ONORM EN 15194:2018

Cycles - Electrically power assisted cycles - EPAC Bicycles

This European Standard applies to EPAC wheels for private and commercial use, with the exception of EPACs, which are intended for hire by an unmanned rental station. This European Standard is intended to cover all common significant hazards, hazardous situations and events relevant to electro-magnetically assisted wheels when they are used as intended and under conditions of misuse which are reasonably foreseeable by the manufacturer. This European Standard is intended to cover such electromotive assisted wheels, which have a maximum nominal continuous power of 0.25 kW, whose power output is progressively reduced and finally switched off when the EPAC has reached a speed of 25 km / h or rather, if the cyclist stops, to pedal. This European Standard specifies requirements and test methods for motor power management systems, for electrical circuits, including the charging system for the design and assembly of electromotive assisted wheels and their assemblies for systems rated up to and including 48 VDC or with a built-in battery charger with a rated voltage input of 230 V AC. This European Standard specifies safety requirements and safety performance requirements for the design, installation and testing of electric motor assisted wheels intended for use on public roads and their subassemblies and provides guidelines for the use and maintenance of such bicycles. This European Standard is applicable to EPACs with a maximum saddle height of at least 635 mm intended for use on public roads. This document is not applicable to EPACs manufactured before the date of publication of this EN.
