Mobile elevating work platforms - Part 1: Design calculations - Stability criteria - Construction - Safety - Examinations and tests

This document sets security requirements and measures for all types and sizes of mobile levy (FHAB, see 3.1) that are intended to carry people to jobs on which they perform from the work platform on work on the condition that people Work platform only enter and leave the basic position near the ground or from the chassis. This document is to be applied to the static design calculations and stability criteria, the construction, the security examinations and exams before the first commissioning of FHABN. It indicates the hazards caused by the use of FHABN and determines procedures for the removal or reduction of these hazards. It does not cover any hazards that are caused by: a) use in an explosive atmosphere; b) work on the work platform on electrical systems under tension; c) use of components that are under pressure on loads; d) Entering and leaving the work platform on changing levels; e) Applications dealt with specifically by national or local regulations (e.g. railway, shipping). This document cannot be applied for: a) lifting devices that operate defined levels (see e.g. EN 81-20: 2020 and EN 81-50: 2020, EN 12159: 2012); b) Devices for fire fighting and rescue (see e.g. EN 1777: 2010); c) unfortunate work baskets that hang on levies (see e.g. EN 1808: 2015); d) lifting operating stands on shelf operating devices (see EN 528: 2021); e) Hubladebühnen (charging line walls) (see EN 1756 1: 2021 and EN 1756-2: 2004+A1: 2009); f) mast -led climbing stages (see EN 1495: 1997+A2: 2009); g) fairs; h) lifting tables (see EN 1570-1: 2011+A1: 2014 and EN 1570-2: 2016); i) Aviation flooring devices (see e.g. EN 1915-1: 2013 and EN 1915-2: 2001+A1: 2009); j) Leaving jobs on industrial trucks (see EN ISO 3691-3: 2016). Classification: FHABN are divided into two main groups: a) Group A: Fhabn, in which the vertical projection of the geometric platform center point in all positions of the platform is always located within the tilting edge in the maximum inclination of the chassis. b) Group B: All other Fhabn. With regard to driving, the FHABN are divided into three types: 1) Type 1: Driving is only permitted if the FHAB is in the transport arrangement; 2) Type 2: Driving with a raised work platform is only controlled from a taxpot on the base; 3) Type 3: Driving with a raised work platform is only controlled from a tax office on the work platform.
