Safety of toys - Part 2: Flammability
This document specifies the categories of flammable materials whose use in all toys is prohibited and requirements regarding the flammability of certain toys when exposed to a small ignition source. The test methods described in Section 5 are used to determine the flammability of toys under the specified test conditions. The test results thus obtained are not considered to provide comprehensive information on the potential fire hazards of toys or materials when exposed to other ignition sources. This document contains general requirements for all toys and specific requirements and test methods for the following toys, which are considered to be the most dangerous: - toys to be worn on the head: beards, moustaches, wigs, etc., made of hair-like material or flowing components; masks; headgear, headdresses, etc.; however, hats made of paper or cardboard without decorations or attached elements are excluded; - role-playing toys and toys intended to be worn by the child as clothing for play; - toys intended to be walked on by the child and made of textiles and/or polymer layers and films; - Toys with soft filling. NOTE: Additional requirements regarding the flammability of electrical toys are specified in EN IEC 62115.
