Textiles - Bursting properties of fabrics - Part 1: Hydraulic method for determination of bursting strength and bursting distension (ISO 13938-1:2019)
This document describes a hydraulic process for determining burst pressure and burst bulge of textile surfaces. In this document, hydraulic pressure is applied with constant flow rate. The test procedure is applicable to knitted fabrics, weaving goods, nonwovens and laminates. It may be suitable for textile surfaces produced using other processes. The test is suitable for measurement samples adapted to the normal climate as well as for measurement samples in wet condition. As the available data show, there does not appear to be a significant difference in the results of pressures up to 800 kPa obtained with hydraulic and pneumatic burst pressure testers. This printing range comprises the majority of the characteristics expected for clothing. For special textiles for which high burst pressures are required, the hydraulic tester is the more suitable.
