Petroleum products - Determination of sulfur content of automotive fuels - Ultraviolet fluorescence method (ISO 20846:2019)
This document lays down an ultraviolet (UV) fluorescence test method for determining the sulphur content of the following products: - with sulphur content in the range of 3 mg/kg to 500 mg/kg; - petrol, with an oxygen content of up to 3.7% (m/m) (including those with an ethanol content of up to 10% (V/V)); - diesel fuels containing up to 30% (V/V) fatty acid methyl esters (FAME; - with sulphur contents ranging from 3 mg/kg to 45 mg/kg; - synthetic fuels, e.g. hydrogenated vegetable oil (HVO) and gas-to-liquid (GTL). Other products and other sulphur contents may be examined using this test procedure, but the precision indications given in this document have been determined only for fuels for motor vehicles for the specified range. Halogens present in concentrations above about 3 500 mg/kg interfere with the determination.
