Plastics - Determination of tensile properties - Part 1: General principles (ISO 527-1:2019)

This document lays down the general principles for determining the tensile properties of plastics and plastic composites under specified conditions. Several different types of specimens are defined for different types of materials, which are described in more detail in the following parts of ISO 527. The methods are used to investigate the tensile deformation behaviour of test specimens and to determine the tensile strength, the tensile module and other aspects of tensile stress/strain handling under specified conditions. The processes are specifically suitable for use in the following material groups: - stiff and semi-rigid thermoplastic injection molding, extrusion and casting compounds, including filled and reinforced composites, as a complement to unfilled grades; stiff and semi-rigid thermoplastic sheets and films; - stiff and semi-rigid thermoset molding compounds, including filled and reinforced composites; stiff and hal ...
