Materials and articles in contact with foodstuffs - Cutlery and table holloware - Part 2: Requirements for stainless steel silver-plated cutlery (ISO 8442-2:1997) (consolidated version)
This standard specifies the material and use requirements and test methods for eating utensils (knives, forks, spoons, serving sets, ladles, children cutlery and other serving utensils). The standard is applicable for instruments made of stainless steel and silver-plated nickel Silver (copper-nickel-zinc alloy) or silver plated stainless steel. It does not apply for cutlery from precious metal, aluminium, mild steel or for cutlery, which completely consist of nickel silver or gold plated or chrome-plated. Three minimum layer thickness of silver are set for silver-plated eating utensils.
