Additive manufacturing - Test artefacts - Geometric capability assessment of additive manufacturing systems (ISO/ASTM 52902:2023)

This document contains the general description of test body geometries, i.e. H. Test bodies, with the aim of benchmarking, together with quantitative and qualitative measurements to be carried out on the benchmarking test body (s) to assess the performance of additive manufacturing systems (AM systems, en: Additive manufacturing). This performance assessment can serve the following two purposes: - the ability to assess the AM system; - the calibration of the AM system. The main use of the benchmarking test body (S) is the quantitative evaluation of the geometric performance of an AM system. This document describes a sentence of test geometries, each designed for the examination of one or more power metrics, as well as several sample configurations of these geometries in the test setup (ten). There are quantities and qualities of the test geometries to be measured, but does not stipulate any specific measurement methods. Different applications can require different levels of performance. This document discusses examples of feature configurations as well as requirements for measurement uncertainty to illustrate examinations and for the evidence of performance at a low and high level. This document does not deal with specific procedures or machine settings for test body production.
