Edison screw lampholders (IEC 60238:2016 + A1:2017 + A1:2017/COR1:2018) (english version)
This International Standard applies to lamp holders with E14, E27 and E40 Edison threads, which are intended only for connecting lamps and semi-lamps to the mains. It also applies to lampholders with switches for exclusive operation in AC circuits, where the working voltage does not exceed 250 V effectively. This standard also applies to Edison E5 lamp sockets designed for mains connection of series-connected lamps with a working voltage of not more than 25 V for indoor use, and to Edison-thread E10 lamp sockets intended for mains connection of lamps connected in series with a working voltage of not more than 60 V for use inside or outside buildings. It also applies to built-in lamp holders E10 for the connection of individual lamps to the mains. These lampholders are not intended for retail sale. As far as reasonably applicable, this standard also applies to adapters. This standard also applies to lampholders which are wholly or partly part of a luminaire or intended for installation in appliances. It only contains the requirements for the lamp socket. For all other requirements, such as: For example, protection against electric shock near the terminals or lamp base, the requirements of the relevant equipment regulations must be followed, and the test is carried out after installation in the corresponding equipment, if it is tested in accordance with its applicable standard. Such lamp holders and lamp holders with clip-on contact protection ring for sole use by lighting manufacturers are not intended for retail sale. This standard applies to lampholders for use in lighting installations inside and outside buildings, in dwellings and industrial installations. It also applies to candle holders. Where special conditions exist, for. B. in street lighting, on ships, in vehicles and in vulnerable, z. As potentially explosive rooms, special constructions may be required. This standard does not apply to three-light versions with E26d thread. This standard is based on the following data for general service lamps: - Socket E14 are used for lamps with a current of not more than 2 A; - Sockets E27 are used for lamps with a current of not more than 4 A; - Sockets E40 are used for lamps with a current of not more than 16 A, or 32 A, if the rated mains voltage does not exceed 130 V (see 5.5 and 6.3). The highest operating temperatures for lampholders used in luminaires are specified in IEC 60598.
