Outdoor Power Equipment - Internal Combustion Engine-Powered Hand-Held Chain Saws - Safety and Environmental Requirements

The requirements of this standard apply to internal combustion engine-powered hand-held chain saws and replacement saw chains for use primarily in cutting wood. The effective implementation date of this standard shall be two (2) years after the publication date and shall apply to all products built after that date. Manufacturers may also comply with the requirements of this standard anytime after the publication date. “ANSI/OPEI B175.1-2025” and “ANSI B175.1-2025” may be used interchangeably wherever referenced or required in this standard. NOTE – With the exception of Annex E, the units in this standard are given in metric. English units are included in parenthesis for information only. The primary units in Annex E are English for consistency with the related CKA computer program input units.
