Flaring (Swaging) and Removal of Shank Nuts ( Reaffirmed: Feb 2004 )

The air is to specify the approved method of flaring the shank of self-locking shank nuts, and to provide the preferred method for removal of damaged nut. The purpose is to ensure that the installation of shank nuts is properly assembled onto the component flange, thus preventing damage to the shank nut or component flange and to ensure adequate retention of the nut.
