551.1.1.1

This part applies to low-voltage and super low-voltage electrical installations equipped with power generating sets. These power generating sets are used to supply power continuously or occasionally to the whole or part of the installations. The requirements raised in this section take into account electrical installations with the following power supply modes:

-to supply power to electrical installations which are not accessed to public supply network;

-to supply power to electrical installations with public supply network as a replacement for electrical source;

-to supply power to electrical installations which operate parallel with public supply network;

-the appropriate combination from the above ways.

This part does not apply to super low-voltage electrical equipment containing not only electrical source but also electrical load. Particular product standards for such equipment which include requirements for the safety of electrical appliance already exist.

551.1.1.2

This part takes into account power generating sets using the following power sources:

-internal combustion engines;

-steam turbines;

-electro-motors;

-photocells;

-electrochemical cells or batteries;

-other applicable power sources.

551.1.1.3

This part takes into account power generating sets having the following electrical performances:

-Synchronous generators of power grid excitation and independent excitation;

-Asynchronous generators of main excitation and self excitation;

-Power gird commutated and self commutated static inverters equipped with/without by-passes.

551.1.1.4

The power generating sets take into account the following use:

-to supply power to permanent electrical installations;

-to supply power to temporary electrical installations;

-to supply power to mobile equipment not connected to permanently-fixed electrical installations.
