This Third Issue of the Outline of Investigation for the Fire Test Method for Portable Hand-Held Extinguishers Intended for Use on Residential Cooking Equipment covers the fire test method for evaluating portable hand-held fire extinguishers intended for use on residential cooking equipment and further clarifies the performance and construction requirements. These requirements cover the fire test method for evaluating portable hand-held fire extinguishers intended for use on residential cooking equipment. Tests for extinguishers rated for Class A, Class B, Class C and Class K are covered in the Standard for Rating and Fire Testing of Fire Extinguishers, ANSI/UL 711. Fire extinguishers, fire extinguishing agents, or both shall also comply with the requirements for construction and performance as applicable to specific types, designs, sizes, and arrangements. Such additional requirements include ANSI/UL 8 and UL 299D and are not within the scope of these requirements.
