Standard for Retail Fixtures and Merchandise Displays


1.1 These requirements cover non-refrigerated or heated commercial displays and other case goods used in retail establishment, including bakeries and restaurants. The term display(s) will be used to refer to all of the types of products covered by this standard. The products are used in accordance with the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70. They are intended for dry, damp, or wet locations. These displays include both electrified and non-electrified products and may include, but are not limited to:   a) Shelving units (Gondolas);   b) Merchandise kiosks (such as the mini-stores in the middle of a mall);   c) Point of Sale (POS);   d) Motorized displays;   e) Hanging displays;   f) Wall systems;   g) Showcases;   h) Display Cases;   i) Cash Wraps, check-out stands (motorized and non-motorized);   j) Temporary Displays;   and k) Product platforms.   1.1 revised May 12, 2017  1.2 These requirements cover products rated 600 V ac or less, including those powered by primary or secondary batteries.  1.2 revised effective October 5, 2015
