American Waterworks Association (AWWA) Standards

Discover industry-leading standards for water treatment, transportation, and storage by the American Waterworks Association (AWWA). Explore categories including treatment, pipes, storage, pumps, plant equipment, and utility management for comprehensive guidance.

Treatment

AWWA water treatment standards meticulously address the use, testing, packaging, and essential requirements of diverse chemicals across various applications. These standards are meticulously categorized based on their specific roles in water treatment, including Coagulation, Disinfection Chemicals, Filtration, Fluorides, Scale and Corrosion Control, Softening, and Taste and Odor Control.

Pipes and Accessories

AWWA pipes and accessories standards are split into ductile-iron pipes and fittings, concrete pipes, pipe installation, meters, plastic pipes, steel pipes, valves and hydrants, disinfection of facilities, and service lines.

Storage

AWWA water storage standards cover the D100 series, which governs the materials used in water storage tanks, including steel, aluminum, concrete, plastic, fiberglass, and geomembrane materials. In addition, multiple types of sacrificial cathodes are discussed to extend the lifetime of these tanks.

Pumps

AWWA water pump standards cover the E100 series, which governs pumps for chemical metering, solids handling for wastewater, horizontal and vertical shaft pumps, and turbine pumps.

Plant Equipment

AWWA water plant equipment standards cover the F100 series, which governs ultraviolet disinfection, ozone systems, and aeration treatment of wastewater.

Utility Management

AWWA water utility management standards cover the G series, which include a variety of different utilities along different stages of the distribution and storage supply chain for water.
