Tolerance Definitions and Gauging Practices for Ball and Roller Bearings
ABSTRACT This standard includes: (1) Terms and definitions of tolerances for the boundary dimensions, running accuracy and internal clearance of ball and roller bearings listed in other ANSI/ABMA and ISO standards. (2) Description of methods of measuring, which are commonly used by bearing users and which, as a rule, give an accuracy sufficient for practical purposes. FOREWORD ANSI/AGMA 4-2025 replaces ANSI/AGMA 4-1994. Symbols and definitions were updated to align with ISO nomenclature, some figures and tables were recreated for readability, and the formatting was updated to align with the current ABMA style. In November 2023, the ABMA ASC B3 Committee approved the start of the ANSI/ABMA 4-2025 project, which was written by the ABMA ASC B3 Committee. It was approved by the MPMA Board of Directors in August 2025. It was approved as an American National Standard on September 9, 2025.
