Programming Languages – COBOL (formerly ANSI X3.23-1985 (R2001)) (includes supplements ANSI X3.23a-1989 and ANSI X3.23b-1993)

Specifies both the form and interpretation of programs expressed in COBOL. Its purpose is to promote a high degree of machine independence in such programs in order to permit their use on a variety of automatic data processing systems.
