Maintains a high degree of compatibilty with the AT atttachment (ANSI X3.221-1994) while providing documentation for new capabilities including the ability to attach more than two devices, provide a means to support the AT attachment protocol on other physical interfaces as well as other capabilities which fit within the general application and scope of enhancing the AT attachment.
