NACE Standard SP0176-2007

Corrosion Control of Steel Fixed Offshore Platforms Associated with Petroleum Production

This standard contains guidelines for establishing minimum requirements for the control of corrosion on steel fixed offshore structures associated with petroleum production, and on the external portions of associated oil and gas handling equipment. Fixed structures include platforms, tension leg platforms, and subsea templates. This standard details the criteria for cathodic protection, and the design, installation, operation, and maintenance of chatodic protection systems. Several appendices are included containing additional information on offshore structures, and figures are included of current density and temperature curves and comparing the performance of electrodes in salt water. This standard is maintained by Task Group 170.
