NFPA 654 Standard for the Prevention of Fire and Dust Explosions from the Manufacturing, Processing, and Handling of Combustible Particulate Solids, 2017 edition

1.1* Scope. 1.1.1 This standard provides requirements for all phases of the manufacturing, processing, blending, conveying, repackaging, and handling of combustible particulate solids or hybrid mixtures, regardless of concentration or particle size, where the materials present a fire, a flash fire, or an explosion hazard. 1.1.2 The owner/operator shall be responsible for implementing the requirements in this standard. 1.2 Purpose. The purpose of this standard is to prescribe technical requirements necessary to manage safety to life and property from fire, flash fire, and explosion hazards involving combustible particulate solids, including hybrid mixtures, and to minimize the resulting damage from a fire or an explosion.
