Cranes - Power driven winches and hoists - Part 2: Power driven hoists
This document shall apply to the design, operating instructions, maintenance and testing of power-driven hoists, in a compact or open design, with or without chassis, the main driving element of which is an electric, hydraulic or pneumatic motor. They are designed for lifting and lowering loads attached to hooks or other load-carrying equipment. Hoists can be used either in cranes, in other machines, such as shelving units, monorails or for themselves. This document applies to the following types of hoists: (a) rope hoist; (b) chain hoist; (c) belt pull, excluding belt strains with steel straps as a supporting medium; (d) lifts for unguided loads, including supporting structures; e) Winches for lifting operations.
