Environmental management systems - Guidelines for a flexible approach to phased implementation (ISO 14005:2019)


This document provides guidance on a phased approach to the development and implementation, maintenance and improvement of an Environmental Management System (UMS) to organisations, including small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), for the development of improve environmental performance. The phased approach provides the flexibility that enables organizations to develop their UMS at their individual pace, over multiple phases, and according to their specific circumstances. Each phase consists of six consecutive stages. The maturity level of the system at the end of each phase can be characterized by the five degrees of maturity of the maturity matrix contained in Annex A.
