Non-destructive testing of welds - Ultrasonic testing - Techniques, testing levels, and assessment (ISO 17640:2018)

This document defines techniques for manual ultrasonic testing of fusion-welded joints in metallic materials with a thickness greater than equal to 8 mm solid, showing a slight weakening of the ultrasound at temperatures of the test object by 0 to 60 ° C ° C (especially the caused by scattering). It is preferred for welded joints with full penetration, where both the base material and the weld is ferritic. All material-dependent ultrasonic sizes set out in this document refer to steels with the following ultra sound velocity: (5 920 ± 50) m/s for longitudinal and (3 255 ± 30) m/s for transverse waves.
