Acoustics - Hearing protectors - Part 2: Estimation of effective A-weighted sound pressure levels when hearing protectors are worn (ISO 4869-2:2018)

This document establishes three procedures to estimate the effective when wearing hearing protectors A weighted sound pressure level (the octave band, the HML and the SNR-process). The methods are applicable either to the sound pressure level of the noise or the equivalent continuous sound pressure level. Although primarily intended for the opposite stationary noise exposure, they are applicable also to pulse-based sounds. It is possible that this procedure not for measurements of the peak sound pressure level might be suitable. The octave band, H -, M -, L -, or SNR values suitable for setting criteria with regard to the sound insulation for the selection or comparison of hearing protectors or fixing minimum requirements for noise reduction.
