This part of IEC 61511 establishes requirements for the specification, design, installation, operation and maintenance of a PLT safety device (SIS) so that it can put the process in a safe state or in a safe state. IEC 61511-1 was created as an implementation of the International Standard IEC 61508: 2010 for the process industry.
