Execution of steel structures - Corrosion protection by protective paint systems (Swedish Standard)

This technical specification, SIS-TS 44, is an example of a specification for the performance of protective painting systems during the design and execution of steel structures with a specified technical service life exceeding 40 years, which are exposed to a corrosive environment, corrosivity category C3 - C5, or category Im1 - Im3, according to SS-EN ISO 12944-2. Clients have the possibility to refer to this technical specification, which contains necessary and relevant supplementary information that is required to attain the right level of quality for the object in the intended environment. This technical specification can also be used for steel structures with a shorter service life, if future maintenance is restricted or prevented due to continuous operation, or because rational maintenance painting cannot be carried out for any other reason. This technical specification treats requirements that optimise the durability of the protective paint system. This technical specification does not treat the requirements that are set in AMA Anläggning concerning the painting of hot dip galvanised steel surfaces. This technical specification clarifies and supplements the general requirements in the SS-EN ISO 12944 series that, from experience, have a large effect on the durability of the protective paint system. The choices that must be made within the framework of the SS-EN ISO 12944 series are given, likewise additional requirements and investigations. This includes such choices that, according to SS-EN ISO 12944, must be made during procurement and purchasing.
