Gravimetric and Dust Spot Procedures for Testing Air-Cleaning Devices Used in General Ventilation for Removing Particulate Matter

This Standard measures the ability of air-cleaning devices to remove dust as they become loaded using a standard synthetic dust. The results are measured by comparing the blackening of targets both upstream and downstream of the air-cleaning device. The Standard does not measure the ability of the air-cleaner to remove particles of specific diameters. This Standard is not intended to test air-cleaners exhibiting efficiencies, as defined in the Standard, of greater than 98%.
